Asgeir Hoem

Software designer in early-stage companies.

Tana (2021…)

I joined Tana as the fifth team member. We are now ~25. I have had numerous roles, but my primary focus is to lead the product design.

Exabel (2017 to 2021)

I joined Exabel as the sixth team member. By the time I left, Exabel had grown to 30+ employees. My role was to lead the product design.

Exabel is now a successful finance technology company based in Oslo, Norway, with offices in London and New York. Exabel builds high-end tools for finance professionals, combining sophisticated mathematics with intuitive user experiences.

Stay (2011 to 2017)

I joined Stay as the third team member, and though I had half a dozen roles I focused primarily on design and product development.

Stay was a travel service for city travel, focusing on high-quality local spots, rather than famous landmarks and global chains. By teaming up with 2,500 local chefs, baristas, bartenders and artists, Stay was able to build a collection of 30 000 hand-picked venues across 150 cities.

By late 2016, Stay had reached 1,000,000 app installs, and 500,000 signed-up travelers. Half of the travelers had created personal city guides, with friends or by themselves. Half of them had offlined a city. While traveling people would use the app on average 11 times daily. Our most enthusiastic travelers had visited 30 cities with the help of Stay, and used the app more than 3,000 times.

A lack of business opportunities forced Stay to close its doors early 2017. The entire team were offered positions at the world's largest travel companies. The domain has since been sold, and the current has nothing to do with this project.
